Community Baroque Ensemble of Toronto welcomes instrumentalists and vocalists who are interested in exploring Baroque music in a supportive, collaborative, and community-focused environment.
Whether you are an experienced early music performer, a modern instrumentalist curious about historical performance practice, or someone simply looking for a musical home, we would be delighted to hear from you.
At CBET, we believe that learning and performance go hand in hand. Rehearsals are places of exploration, discovery, and growth, where musicians support one another while working toward meaningful and rewarding performances.
We also believe that music is about relationships. Many members who first met through CBET now gather outside rehearsals to play chamber music, share meals, attend concerts, and collaborate on new musical projects. These connections have become one of the most rewarding aspects of the ensemble.
CBET rehearses on Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The season is organised into terms and includes regular rehearsals, coaching opportunities, guest artists, and performances.

Residents and family members are welcome to attend rehearsals and performances, creating meaningful opportunities for connection between musicians and the communities we serve.
Throughout the season, CBET welcomes guest artists and coaches who bring fresh perspectives, specialised knowledge, and inspiring musical leadership.
These collaborations enrich our understanding of Baroque repertoire and performance practice while helping members connect with the broader early music community.
CBET operates on a term-fee model that helps support artistic leadership, music preparation, guest artists, administrative costs, and venue partnerships.
We are committed to making participation as accessible as possible. Flexibility may be available regarding fees or attendance requirements, and we encourage prospective members to contact us if circumstances make participation challenging.
Our goal is to build a thriving musical community, and we recognise that every musician’s situation is unique.
We welcome musicians from a wide variety of backgrounds and levels of experience.
CBET regularly collaborates with singers and welcomes opportunities to explore the rich vocal repertoire of the Baroque era, from chamber cantatas and opera excerpts to larger vocal-instrumental works.
We welcome musicians at all stages of their historical performance journey.
Some members perform regularly on period instruments, while others are taking their first steps into Baroque style and historical performance practice. Curiosity, openness, and a willingness to learn are valued more highly than prior experience.
Our two ensembles provide different pathways into Baroque music-making while remaining connected through a shared spirit of exploration, collaboration, and community.
